Separation of the Mixture 2-Propanol + Water by Heterogeneous Azeotropic Distillation with Isooctane as an Entrainer

Advanced processes, which are alternatives to ordinary distillation, essential dehydrate azeotropic alcoholic mixtures for biofuel production. In that regard, this work focuses on the analysis of heterogeneous distillation separation a 2-propanol + water mixture in order recover alcohol with sufficiently low content. By comparing performances various entrainers basis ternary maps, isooctane was selected further process analysis. An advantage it poses is related fact traces within recovered dehydrated highly welcome view its subsequent use as fuel. Aspen Plus® V11 software employed simulation process, thus filling gap existing literature due lack studies system using an entrainer.
